I also got a sympathy card in the mail for a neighbor in Michigan who just lost her husband to lung cancer. He was such a nice guy. On one hand, I am sad to hear of his passing, but on the other hand, I know what he went through.
Had dinner with out to celebrate a friend's birthday. We went to a hibachi place that could not make a gf meal for me (even if I brought in wheat free soy sauce) so I drank iced tea while everyone ate, and then went to Outback with a few friends. The meal at Outback was really good, but I really think I am going to have to stop eating out for a while. No matter what, I still have some issues afterward. Nothing nearly as bad as if I were glutened, but bad enough that it makes me want to eat at home instead.
Before I left I tossed together two meatloaves and put some brown rice in the steamer. All Marty had to do was steam a vegetable and dinner was served. The second meat loaf is in the refrigerator, waiting for lunch tomorrow.
The weather has been ridiculous lately. It is supposed to get down to 17° at some point this week, which for Mississippi is insane. Of course, my apartment is not nearly as weatherproofed as it probably should be. In fact, during the day you can see the daylight through the cracks around the door. Of course, weatherproofing has been on my to-do list since we moved here, but the only time I think about it is when it is too cold to add the weatherstripping! To combat the cold, we tacked a blanket up over the front door and patio door. You could instantly feel a difference! As soon as it warms up enough, I will be weatherstripping the door, because whether it is cold air escaping during the summer or heat escaping during the winter, it is money. In fact, according to Lowes, it is a lot of money.
...did you know that a 1/8" space between a standard exterior door and its threshold is equivalent to a two square inch hole in the wall? Closing those gaps can save you up to 15 percent in heating and cooling costs and also can reduce the demand on your heating and cooling system.
Maybe if I feel like taking a kick in the gut, I will figure out what 15% of my heating/cooling costs for the last year was. Or maybe not. :o|

yeah the guys are supposed to change our back door-I can see daylight around it too and the laundry room is FREEZING-I put up blankets around the windows of the sewing room (draft somewhere) and it's gotten a little better.Gotta keep nagging him to do something to seal the windows better....Jabber our parrot is in the sewing room now-he doesn't like cold LOL so gotta get it done!
yes if you have any sensitivity it seems like eating out is a risk-I know I've gotten sick several times from eating out even though it didn't seem like any of my allergins would be in what I ate....LOL
